French lessons and nights on the town

The last week I have had French intensive lessons and a few nights out in Rouen.

To begin the french intensive 2 day course was wednesday and thursday 9-5 both days. It was easily the most useless waste of time ever! I have never been so bored. Basically the french have no idea how to teach their language. I learned how to say hello, my name is and I'm american 20 times (both phrases I already knew).

I was in the beginner course as well where everyone spoke practically no french and the teaches spoke practically no English which was great. It's over now and I can learn french the more natural way - trial and error.

Thursday night the school had a "party" at a local Irish pub in Rouen. It was an amazing night in so many ways, I have met students from all over the world from Australia to Argentina, to Finland. There are few americans in this program (we are well outnumbered by Canadians) which allows me to mingle with so many people from everywhere.

Friday Laine Jeanna and I went to Carrefour in order to pick up more supplies like food, laundry detergent, shampoo, and a roasted chicken now infamously known as Le Poulet. We had to walk back from the bus stop with hugely heavy bags and a whole roasted chicken. We had to take several stops along the way. At one of the stops we ran into a few friends who gave us info to a party that night at a students house "by the train station." As we picked up our things to start again the mighty chicken took a bit of a tumble onto my foot as Jeanna yelled "LE POULET!" Luckily a nice young Australian boy decided to pitty us and help us carry some of "our" bags back to the dorms (don't worry the chicken was washed off and eaten).

That night we went with a huge group to the party at Cliff's house (guy from pepperdine). Cliff however had forgotten to mention to everyone that it was supposed to be a costume party. Those few in the know now looked quite silly amongst the chic young students in their finest going out ensembles. The party was fun though my friends have an amazing skil of disappearing completely and then popping up in the most unlikely of places.

We finally left after being accosted by several creepy men in a short period of time.

Saturday we ventured to downtown Rouen for some adventuring and shopping. I bought a sweet fake leather bomber jacket and some black skinny jeans (Jacki I look like your twin in this combo of clothing).

That night around midnight we decided to join team Finland on a day trip to Versailles the next morning.
